The lead time for a new build house can vary depending on the size of the project and the complexity of the build. Typically, it can take between 6-9 months.

Extensions and Renovations

This depends on health and safety requirements and the scope of the project. But Davy Construction can accommodate the request if possible.

This depends on the scope of the project. The team at Davy Construction are well-versed in obtaining building consent and will advise and apply for building consent if the project requires it.

Home Recladding

The cost of recladding a home varies depending on individual project factors such as the size and complexity of the project, site access, damage sustained, and the required repairs. For a specific quote or estimation, contact Davy Construction.

Cladding provides a “weathertight exterior envelope” for your home. There is a variety of home cladding options to suit your design aesthetic. These include timber and weatherboard, natural stone, fibre cement, brick, metal and concrete.

Each cladding option has different installation and maintenance requirements. Talk to one of the recladding experts at Davy Construction and we can help you choose the best cladding option to suit your design and budget.

Leaky Homes

A leaky home means the home is not fully water-tight. This occurs when the structure gets moisture in between the exterior cladding and the internal walls. Leaky homes have the potential to cause structural problems and can lead to health issues due to mould and spores that develop within the damp timber framing.

Often signs of a leaky home aren’t obvious. Many show no signs of moisture-related issues or leaks until the damage is substantial.

Houses that have been built in a Mediterranean style using monolithic plaster cladding systems are often identified as having a high risk of leaking. These homes were typically constructed between the 1980s to the mid-2000s. The Building Act was amended in 2004, so any plaster homes built before then should be checked for moisture-related issues and leaks. If you own or are looking to purchase one of these homes, we advise calling Davy Construction and we can inspect the home thoroughly.
Here are some signs to look out for:

  • Fixings such as screws or nails that show signs of corrosion
  • Uneven floor surfaces e.g., vinyl that is lifting or bubbling
  • Formation of mould or fungi
  • Musty smells
  • Swollen skirting and architraves
  • Ceiling linings that are sagging
Absolutely. If you ignore the issue, you will soon discover that your home sits at a significantly lower value than similar neighbouring properties. The best way to remedy the problem is to completely re-clad. It may take time and money to complete, but recent research has shown that newly-clad homes are perceived as superior and any losses you may have anticipated will no longer apply.
